The Warrior New Moon in Aires April 15, 2018 at 6:57pm PST 26 degrees Aires The New Moon today is in Aires. Aries is the warrior of the zodiac. She is willing to fight for herself and what she believes in. Aires is individualistic, spontaneous and can be aggressive. Aries is ruled by Mars. Mars is the Roman god of War who was largely modeled after the Greek god Ares. Ares is also a god of war and is known for being a disrupter and ‘shaker-up’ of things.
However, Mars wasn’t just a god of war for the Romans. Mars was also a protector and a god of agriculture. There were several festivals in March (when the sun and moon are usually both in Aries) and in October (when the moon is usually full in Aires) to celebrate Mars and agriculture. When you think of how powerful spring is with plants bursting through the ground to the light and what a disruption that is, you can kind of see how Mars would be associated with agriculture. It also takes a tremendous amount of energy (Mars) to get the fields tilled and planted, then another colossal amount of energy to harvest them. This New Moon is punctuated by disruption. During the New Moon the Sun (our fuel) and the Moon (our emotions) are always together, in this case in Aires. Uranus (sudden change and innovation) is also deeply connected to this Sun/Moon combo. Aires is already impulsive. Add in Uranus and you can get explosive, radical movement or change. Look on your own chart to see which house this combo is falling in. You can look up your own astrology chart at www.astro.com. Wherever this combo is falling is where disruption is likely to occur in your life. This doesn’t have to be something bad, it might just be the energy you need to fight for the change you really want to bring forth in your own life. Just like the young shoots aggressively pushing through the soil. You’ll have some help from Jupiter, expansion. She is in a good relationship with both Pluto (transformation) and Mars (energy). However, Jupiter (expansion) is opposing Venus (the feminine and beauty). When Jupiter and Venus team up like this, there is a tendency towards over indulgence. Since this New Moon is a disrupter New Moon, it is likely to create anxiety. If you use food or other vices to cope with anxiety, there is a great possibility that your addictions may rise up to challenge you. The good news is, Pluto is in a good relationship with Venus (the feminine) and that might help you be more aware of your addictive tendencies before they occur. There is one more interaction I want to bring to your attention. Pluto and Mars are in a tight embrace as they have been there for a while now. They are both in Capricorn, which often symbolizes our foundations and structures but it can also symbolize the old ways in which we do things, perhaps ways and habits that no longer serve us. There is a transformative (Pluto) energy (Mars) here to change these old ways that we use to relate to ourselves and our world. The downside is that if we don’t evolve, things can really go sidewise. We may experience people blowing up at us, we may blow up at other people or perhaps we may experience an injury or accident. The best way to navigate through this period is to first recognize that something has to change, then muster the courage to make the change. This New Moon is asking, “Where do you need to be a Warrior in your life? Where do you need to fight for what you want?” If you don’t identify with being a Warrior, think of the Warrior as a Protector. What do you value that is in danger of being lost or taken from you? Focus your attention on what is most important to you and know that you may need to transform and make changes in your life in order to achieve your goals or retain what you value most. You can use the sights and scents of spring to help empower you. Think of all that energy bursting through.
