Sacred Marriage - Full Moon in Libra
Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 5:37am
10 degrees Libra

What is Sacred Marriage? Sacred Marriage is the union of our inner anima and animus, our inner feminine and inner masculine.  On the simplest level it is about being in partnership with ourselves.  How do we work with ourselves?  When we want to do something, how well do the various parts of ourselves work together?  This is not about sexual orientation, but rather it is about how we accept or reject the different aspects of the feminine and masculine aspects of ourselves. The feminine or yin characteristics are soft, yielding, emotional, mother-like, goddess qualities and the masculine characteristics are the yang, hard, active, powerful, father-like, god-like qualities. There are times when we need to be soft, yielding and listening while there are other times when we need to be powerful, strong and forthright. There is a dance that happens between the sacred feminine and masculine and neither should be judged as good or bad.

This month’s full moon is in Libra – the balancer of the zodiac and the partnership master. Healthy partnership requires each individual to have a strong sense of self while also being flexible and yielding so both partners can shine without getting lost in the other. Libra is also the negotiator and diplomat.  Sometimes we need an inner diplomat to negotiate between our inner anima and animus so we can speak up when appropriate but also know when to just stay quiet and listen. If we cultivate a healthy inner sacred marriage, we not only experience less inner turmoil, stress and indecisiveness, but we also tend to have healthier external relationships as well.

In today’s Full Moon, there are two sets of planets who are in a deep partnership.  First, the Sun and Mercury are conjunct in Aries. Aries is the warrior of the zodiac. This embrace inspires speaking out and moving forward without caution.  There is an impulsivity to this union. The second partnership is a conjunction of Saturn and Mars in Capricorn.  Unlike Aires, Capricorn is steadfast, slow and purposeful as is Saturn.  Mars, would rather be with Aires, but in this union, I think Mars is giving Saturn the energy it needs to execute its plan. There is definitely some planning going on here and a bit of a pushing and shoving between going now versus planning first and going later. So, if you are feeling a little torn or indecisive, that is likely why.  Can you dance, between the two? Can you respect and hold both sentiments, perhaps moving forward more slowly while also reassessing and possibly modifying your plans as you proceed?

This Full Moon is at 10 degrees Libra. Ten in the Tarot is the Wheel of fortune card which is related to new opportunities, breakthroughs and prosperity.  It has two challenges, Fear of Ruin and Oppression. Both of these challenges happen when we doubt and censor ourselves or allow others to do it to us.  This card also has two assets, Satiety and Wealth. These two assets manifest when we realize that we are enough and that we actually have all that we need. We may just need to believe in ourselves and draw that part of ourselves forward.  Working on Sacred Marriage teaches us how to dance with our fear and our inner belief in ourselves, allowing us to communicate better, creating new opportunities and prosperity for ourselves and others.

One more important aspect of this chart is that Venus, the feminine, and Mars, the masculine, are in a harmonious relationship.  They are showing us how to find balance and respect.  Sometimes a good model for cultivating your own inner Sacred Marriage is to look at your healthy outer relationships. The relationships that nurture, support and lift you up can be your guide. Make time for those relationships. We are social beings and we tend to do better in community. We are better together, and you are certainly better when all your inner parts are integrated and working together.

I am a person who loves marriage and to witness a couple who says those promises are really mesmerizing. I have some wishes as well that I want to say to my future partner. Wishes that will strengthen our relationship and will give us that faith to hold on to whenever we are feeling weak. This post will give us some ideas about marriage and how Libra played a big role in it.
